Hello world.....i know you are wondering what happened to me, its been quite awhile. Well i just wanted to let you know, I'm not dead...BUT i am lacking inspiration.
Its been a rough couple of weeks and i have had a pretty big disappointment. So i am sort of in hermit mode. Just licking my wounds and regrouping.

Why me???

Okay, so me and my friend Angela go for slushies everyday at 3pm. Now i know what some of you are thinking...every day, why that is quite frequent....well who cares. Anyways..back to the story.

7-11 is just a short walk up from our work, maybe like a 5 minute walk. During those 5 minutes adventures happen. Why just yesterday, a lovely homeless person was lying on some cardboard on the sidewalk. He was screaming, a propane explosion knocked down the walls in my house. Well that is just terrible, but what he was doing putting propane in a cardboard home, i don't know. We all know from experience that cardboard and propane just don't mix. But i am getting off topic. So we do our usual thing and get slushies. Now on the way back, the homeless man, lets call him Joe, walks up to me and says something like 'man i want a slushie, i am just so hot' as he rubs his hands seductively up and down his body. I of course naively respond 'oh, i didn't know you wanted one, if i had, i would have gotten you one' and then of course, Joe being Joe, keeps talking about how hot he is.
Now i don't know what is stranger, me being propositioned by a homeless man, or the fact that its not the first time a bum has hit on me, or the fact that i felt bad for not getting him a slushie.

Proactiv NO MORE!!!!!

So people of the blogger-sphere...i am OUTRAGED. I guess i should start at the beginning.

I am always looking for a new face wash, because my face is super sensitive and prone to break outs. On my quest for finding the perfect face wash (i believe it doesn't exists) i decided to try proactiv solution. It is a fine system..it did what it was required to do...but i have only been using it for like two months. So the jury was still out...i mean it was fine but it was expensive and it wasn't like it made some major difference and my skin was now picture perfect.
Anyways....today i come home from an awesome day (saw batman, dark knight on the IMAX...got to see my favourite thing in the whole wide world....the imax preshow....it is an awesome 80's laser show) . So i come home and on the table there is a package for me...proactiv has sent me a new kit and let me know that they have charged me another like 62 dollars. Isn't that thoughtful of them. I am actually really put off by this...it makes me madder than almost anything...i am normally not outraged but i am like incensed at this. First of all...how did they even know i wanted another kit...how did they even know i have finished the last kit (i haven't by the way....all the products are like half full still) And i never gave them permission to charge my credit card again..then on the bill it says "you can expect your next kit to be shipped the week of 09/22/08 and it will be charged to your card." first of all...i am gonna be swimming in face wash if they send me another kit that soon...and second of all...i never agreed to this.
I am so outraged...i e-mailed them a strongly worded letter, i never do that..i am not a complainer. I am even demanding a full refund INCLUDING postage to send the package back. I am so outraged that even though i am not finished with the kit i already have...i have thrown it out. I want nothing more to do with them.
Anyways...that is my vent...and i will keep you posted on their reply.
If i don't get a full refund (postage included) i am gonna send Stephanie after them....and they don't want that....oh no...they don't want that!

Guitar

I have decided to learn how to play the guitar. My friend Mark is teaching me...much to everyone's annoyance! but i think i have a natural talent. It is like the funnest thing ever, except my fingers don't really agree with me. Pinkie is the worst..randomly strumming, not holding down the string enough...but i shall train him to behave.
Now most of you are probably wondering...who would give that girl a guitar? Well here's what you need to know...Andrea lent me her guitar, and Mark is my sen say (like that mark?...sen say is so much cooler than teacher)
So if you have a complaint about my playing please address those two people.

I should start thinking of band names...any suggestions?

Barbeque!

I have decided that i am gonna throw a BBQ...i am actually really excited because i never really throw any sort of party. But i have the house to myself this weekend. I am gonna make the price is wrong bob, garlicky potato's, kabob's (because everyone likes to eat food off sticks), and a strawberry rhubarb pie. I hope the weather cooperates because then we can swim and hang in my backyard, maybe hot tub, and swing in my hammock. It is gonna be an awesome day!
I also think i am gonna use this day as a pre-birthday celebration..just to get my birthday started even earlier!

The Celebration of my Birth

Everyone, i don't want to alarm you but my birthday is coming up. It is a joyous occasion that everyone should celebrate.
My plans, so far, are going good. Friday august 1st, start off at the spaghetti factory (best place for dinner) then we wander over to a nice relaxed pub for drinks and great conversation (mainly about me). That night, i will crash at someones place downtown. The next morning i will get up and catch a bus with my friend (Leah's boyfriend) James down to K-town so we can see my very talented cousin in a play on the Saturday night. Then Sunday me and steph and mark are heading to another play with grandma.
Finally we head home on Monday.
Now i was thinking that because it is my birthday weekend i should dress up nice, do you guys think it would be too much, if i was wearing pretty poofy party dresses all weekend? because i was thinking that the party dresses would alert everyone to the special occasion it is.
Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions on how to make my birthday weekend extravaganza any better...please let me know.

Breaking News!!!

There has been breaking news in the breakfast investigation. Today i went up to the cafe for breakfast with my co-worker, jenni. The special today was egg, sausage, and cheese...and i went like normal and ordered what i always do, egg bacon cheese on a bagel..and the cafe ladies gave me a lot of bacon and only charged me for a special..then when i said thank you, like i do every day.....she say 'have a great day' and i was SO excited. Me and the cafe lady had a moment! So i believe that the reason i get the shaft in the caf is that i always go with my friend Lindsay...and Lindsay must be the one they don't like.
Therefore...i must never go to the caf with Lindsay again.

Discrimination Served for Breakfast

A Tin investigative report is in the works.
Do the cafeteria lunch ladies play favourites when it comes to breakfast or do they just not like me and Lindsay? A good friend has volunteered to help me investigate.
Our problems with the cafeteria started a long while ago shortly after we discovered that they offer a special breakfast everyday for $2.25. Here's the deal..a lot of times the special is for example, egg sausage cheese on a bagel....but what if you want bacon? then no special for you...they won't change the bacon for sausage..and we accepted that as a rule...but all around us people kept making changes to the special, and they cafeteria ladies just went right with it...let them change anything they wanted and it still only cost them 2.25. But when me and Lindsay asked they said "the special is the special, you can't change it"
I was okay to let the injustice go because damn i love they breakfasts they provide and they are quite inexpensive. But today, a lady behind me got an omelet on a bagel as a special...but the special today was pancakes. Those two things aren't even in the same league!!!
And don't get me started about how cheap they are on doling out the bacon...we almost never get more than two pieces when others get like 4 or 5.
So I wonder...do they just not like us...and why us, we are nice polite cool people? So my friend has offered to go undercover, and order breakfasts too...the same as us but not at the same time..and we will compare.
I will keep you posted...rest assured..this bacon injustice will not go on!!!!

Cell phone vs Blackberry

February 2006: After serious research, Erin goes to rogers and buys her very first cell phone. She is very happy with this phone, it is a good little phone, plays music, takes pictures, isn't a flip phone (for some reason that i can't explain, i really don't like flip phones). This phone is a Sony Ericsson W600i.
FLASH FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY
Erin's cellphone that has never given her trouble won't charge. Lindsay says to me, go to rogers and see how much of a hardware upgrade you are eligible for.
Erin - hardware upgrade what is that?
Lindsay - while, every year you can upgrade your phone, usually for free and all you need to do is extend your plan.
Erin - you don't need to wait until your plan ends? you mean i have been waiting for my plan to end to get a new phone upgrade when you get one once a year? What the!!!!
Lindsay - Yeah, while it depends on the phone and the plan extension, sometime you will have to pay extra. Go into rogers at your lunch....but take someone with you.
Erin goes to rogers on her lunch, and is overwhelmed by her options and can't make a decision...so she buys a new charger for her current phone and leaves.
But.....now she is wondering.....what is better, get a new phone now or wait until her plan ends? and the sales guy seemed to really be pushing a blackberry...with that fact that i can check my e-mail.
So help please...i would love some recommendations.

Greece

T-minus 11 days and counting....THEN GREECE BABY!!!

That is right people all of you can be so jealous of me now. Me and my little sister are backpacking around four Greek islands for 15days. We are meeting up with a tour group after a couple days in Athens and then island hop until we fly home.

Goodbye Family Bingo

We have a tradition when it comes to family gatherings, we play bingo. It is a great time, mom's surprisingly competitive streak comes out. So every time we all get together, out comes the bingo set and we get down to business; Mom heckles the bingo caller, dad quietly wins all the prizes, and i wonder if anyone would notice if i read my book. When you win a round of family bingo you get to draw a prize out of our lovely bag of FABULOUS PRIZES (basically cheap crap from the dollar store, most of which gets put back into the bag for next time) But the real prize bragging rights that you beat all of your family at a game that is purely luck. But this weekend a strange thing happened.....my little sister got a Wii. Our family gathering turned into a fiercely competitive game of Wii bowling. Mom gaining the title "the legend" convinced that it was all in the form..and would lunge every time and hold that lunge until that ball hit those pins. Dad cursing the spin on his ball every turn. And Steph, by far my favourite of the forms we saw that night with what i won't be able to do justice by explaining...it was something you kind of had to see but there was a kick and she always ended with a statue of liberty arm. It was so much fun that we played competitions all night long.
So i say....Goodbye family bingo and hello to Wii family bowling! A new Tradition is Born!

A brave new world?

Okay, so i was gonna blog all about my love of slushies and how everything tastes better in slushie format....But then i found the craziest thing at walmart. Fake nails that are black a little white skull on each nail with rhinestone eyes. Now normally i pride myself on doing quite funky nails myself. I have never had fake nails and have only ever paid for two manicures. But how do you pass up skulls.....i know i am 27 and apparently skulls aren't for grown ups but WHATEVER WORLD, you can't control me. So i buy them and excitingly take them home and put them on...now i have those crazy long plastic nails that cashiers normally have and you wonder how they ever do anything in them.....well now i really wonder how they survive with them. Even now while typing i am having trouble. I took a pic with my camera to show all of you but i had to get my sister to open the usb port on my camera because with these talons it is impossible. I am gonna see how long they last, the box said that with the glue they should last up to 10 days. I am looking forward to 10 days of awkward nail fun. Especially since i type all day at work! I am betting that they won't even make it until bed time tomorrow.

The best thing about sundays....

A typical sunday for me is sleeping until about 1pm, getting up eating usually some leftover food from saturday and then......having the longest shower possible. See sunday is the time to make up for having all those unbarably short short showers during the week. I set up my ipod speakers, plug my ipod in, play my shower playlist, turn the shower on as hot as possible and then sing and dance myself clean. I know what you are thinking, dancing in the shower but it is fun.
And that is how i spend a large part of my sunday

What is happening to the youth of today's fashion sense?

MULLETS, SLOTTED SUNGLASSES, STUDDED BELTS, and OTHER 80's Fashion seems to be making a come back....let me ask you something, We all regretted the 80's the first time, why are we letting the youth of today make the same mistakes as we did? And i am all for crazy hair cuts and funky colours but MULLETS....all i can say is NO NO NO NO NO! So how do we save the world from this horrible 80's/punk disaster? I think that anyone we see that has taken this fashion choice, we should throw water balloons or something. I know that water balloons are hard to transport but sometimes we need to make sacrifices to correct these mistakes before it is too late.

Okay so me and my sister were in the grocery store buying ground beef for dinner last night and the people in front of us purchased 5 cases of bottled water, with 24 bottles in each, that's 120 bottles, and 8 packages of 2kg white granulated sugar...oh and one package of gum. What do you think they were gonna do with all that sugar and water?

Digital Camera Update

Well everyone, i have purchased a digital camera, and i love it. Now i did lots of research online, well maybe like 20 minutes of research so i knew some of the right questions to ask. Then yesterday during my lunch i went to blacks and let the sales girl talk to me for like half an hour about all sorts of things, like image stabilizers ie. software based vs lens based (lens based is way better) and rechargeable batteries vs double A batteries. Then i went back to work and asked every single person what they know about digital camera's. From there i made a list of things i want from a camera.
1.An image stabilizer, the lens based kind
2.A camera with a view finder as well so that on extremely sunny days (like when i am in Greece in June) i can still take pictures.
3.Motion stabilization(because it sounds cool)
4.Face recognition
Basically i wanted a camera that was idiot proof that i couldn't screw up when taking a picture.
So last night off i went to Best Buy to look at the camera's with a certain model in mind. My sister came with me because she says i am easily up sold(which is true) and she didn't want me to end up getting stuff i didn't need.
We went to the camera section and i bought the prettiest camera there. The Canon Powershot SD1100, It had everything on my list and it was super pretty. So everyone be very exciting i will now be posting lots of pictures!!!!

First day blues

This post is in dedication to my sister. It is her first day back to work after a year of raising the happiest cutest baby boy in the whole world. I know she is missing him something fierce today.

I just wanted to take a moment to say...Andrea, you rock as a mom.

What is your ideal super power?

This is always the question i ask when trying to get to know someone. Because if they have a well thought out superpower and reason of why it is the best superpower, then i know that we will get along well.
I must say, some of the best answers to this question i have EVER received i have got in the last few days. Lindsay and Ryan. They both have well thought out reasons about why they would choose their power. I am very impressed with both of them and can tell we are kindred spirits.
Plus we would make one kick butt superhero team!
Although me and Lindsay were talking today and decided we were evil, so i guess we would have to be super villains. But that would be fun too.
So Ryan, would you like to join our super villains team?
Although i must warn you that me and Lindsay can be quite lazy and disorganized...so i don't know how much evil we would achieve on a grand scale..but we do make time every day to cause a little bit of evil. Every little bit helps.

Lindsay:Oh my god, yesterday a co-worker yelled out "jenni do you want to be a PBO" "PBO" "PBO" it was a total turrets situation.
Erin:Oh my god, he is so weird.
Lindsay:Jenni was like "what are you talking about" and he just kept saying PBO PBO over and over again never actually explaining himself.
Erin:Man i miss all the fun!
Erin:If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Lindsay:Teleportation, just think about how much time I could save.
Erin:I would choose mind control.
Lindsay:Man if i could teleport i could teleport myself ANYWHERE, just think about it if you could fly someone would see you and if you were invisible you couldn't fly but if you teleport you could just teleport yourself to Fiji for lunch and suntan for an hour. (she rambled alot about teleportation here, she feels very strongly about her super power, i think that is why we get along so well because i feel that strongly about mind control)

Bloggers block

Okay everyone...my brain is not functioning at a very high level these past couple days because i have gotten sick. I hate being sick...i get all wimpy and cranky. Plus i ultimately always get a sore throat...all swollen and scratchy. Which i hate because that means i can't eat food anymore. Basically when i get sick i go on and all apple juice diet. But all i can think about is food, which is weird because i am not normally obsessed with food. Then when i finally get better i have this whole list of food that i would like to eat...and it is never as good as what i imagined it would be.

Walk Wrath, its all the RAGE!!!

Not many people know what walk wrath is, it is road rages' unknown pedestrian brother. It is really only common among people who live in crowded urban areas, relying on walking as their main form of transportation. I myself suffer from this terrible disease.


There are two main triggering factors for a sufferer of walk wrath.


1. the slow walker who meanders from point A to point B. The sufferer usually gets stuck behind this person or group of people, especially when they are in a hurry. This causes frustration and anger.

2. the unobservant walker. The sufferer is walking along, conscious of all the people around them, ready to bob or weave through the crowd of walkers when the moment presents itself. When all of a sudden another person just walks right in front of you and cuts you off completely. This drives the sufferer crazy due to the sudden unsuspected interruption and delay in their walk.



This is a horrible condition that many downtown Torontonians suffer from. So next time you see a person traveling up a stream of people like a trout, please remember to give them lots of space and keep your distance because they are most likely suffering the Walk Wrath, and they will punch you if you get in their way.

That's HOT

Okay, i just had to show everyone how photogenic i am. I believe this was a Halloween party at my friends house. I can't remember my hair ever being this long either.
This was the year i was a vampire. There were quite a few technical problems with this costume, one i had to cover myself with baby powder to make me really pale, then my vampire teeth wouldn't stay in my mouth..so in the end i just looked like a fancy dressed goth kid.
I am granting you guys the rare privilege of basking in my hotness, try not to be so jealous.

The New TIN??

Okay everyone, it is time to make a very tough decision....a decision that could either make me a superstar...or make me a dud.......HAIR CUT TIME.

So my friend approached me today and told me that i should change my hair colour to platinum blond. Then my other friend got involved and told me i should cut my hair really really short.

I am wondering, to cut or not to cut? to dye or not to dye?

Will i do it? all signs point to yes...because i do love to make drastic changes when it comes to my hair.

Crazy go train people

So i have another great go train story. For all of you who haven't ever been on the go train before all the seats are set up in groups of four like this:

I was sitting in #3, the rest were empty. now a lady comes along puts all her bags on seat 2 and then she sits directly across from me in seat number 1, now normal go train etiquette is sit as far away from on another as possible, think men's urinal rules...only sit beside some one if you have no other choice. So then this lady i am gonna call her crazy...so then crazy does the weirdest thing she twists herself so forward on the seat she is practically not even sitting on the seat she is in the space between her seat and my seat. I mean crazy was practically sitting on my lap the entire train ride home. It was completely odd. Now normally this is when a normal person would say something to her....but as a general rule of mine, i try to interact as little as possible with 'people' so i had no choice but to ignore her. and suffer in silence.

But it was just so crazy i had to share.

Digital Cameras

I am new to the camera world....i have never owned a camera before, never really been interested. BUT....i think it is finally time to join the world of picture takers.

Now here's the problem...i know absolutely NOTHING about cameras except you press the button an it takes a picture. So where do you start when you are shopping for a camera?
I am starting my investigation. Please look forward to my investigative report.

Go Transit

Okay, i live in Scarborough, but i work downtown so everyday i am forced to take some sort of transit. Now i live in Scarborough but where i live is where the ttc officially stops, it is a place called west hill. So my choices to get downtown are...1. ttc - one bus ride, rt ride, and two subway transfers later, i am downtown, now this takes about 1h&45mins. 2. go transit - 45 minute train ride.
So go transit seems like the better option. but unfortunately they are not very reliable at all. And as time goes by they get less reliable but their prices keep going up.
Also what is with all these go transit riders, they all have to stand in specific spots and sit in specific seats. And watching them deboard is my favourite, especially at guildwood. People literally run off the train, run to their cars and then take off at high speeds to get out of the parking lot first.
Anyways these are just a few things i have noticed about riding the go train...if you guys have any amusing stories about commuting to work, i would love to hear them.

Sunday

Today, i got up and then watched my sister and her boyfriend play guitar hero. That is one crazy game!!! I am not very good at it...but i don't care because ORIGINAL Nintendo is where it is at. I love that system...call me old fashion but it is way funner than all the new systems.

Also today me and my sister, Stephanie are planning our trip to Greece. We are going backpacking to some Greek islands. It should be a really good trip if we manage not to kill each other. I am pretty excited. On some islands we are gonna be staying in these little huts no bigger than a storage shed. Those should be some fun times.

Now on another note...everyone is bothering me about a theme for this blog...what should it be. I would like some feed back on this.

My name is Erin but my sister gave me this ridiculous nick name called tin a tin. Now, i was not a fan of this nick name but unfortunately it caught on....now even i am okay being called tin a tin. but it was toooo long, so now it is just tin.
