Winter Boots

So now that it has started snowing I need winter boots. Now I have been saying that I need winter boots for like two winters now. Come to think of it...i don't think I have had a pair of winter boots since I was a kid. Every year I go to the shoe store...look at all the boots and all i think is "Damn why do they make winter boots so ugly"
Also...i really hate tucking my pants into boots...it is just not a look I like or can pull off. I just can't do it. So I always come out of the shoe store with new shoes....but never winter boots.
I tried to get winter boots today, I was in winners looking at the boots and I came out with a yoga mat and head phones...but no boots.
Its time to get serious. My goal this week is to finally go and get winter boots! I swear I am gonna do it this time!

Work Zombie

So last night for my best friend James' Christmas present we went to see avatar 3D....in imax. Now Avatar is like the most popular movie in the world right now. Its based on something...sci fi nerds don't get mad at me...but I don't know..I think it's a video game.
Now I follow a few specific rules for an excellent movie going experience.
1) NEVER go opening weekend...you are packed into a crowded theatre where you get to see that the human race...they are a bunch of idiots...well..mainly just the teenagers and younger generation...which makes me worry for the future..and myself because a lot of people consider me the younger generation......okay...wait I have gotten off topic...damn hooligan teenagers. Anyways...rule one to repeat...avoid opening weekend of a movie.
2)AVOID OPENING WEEKEND!
okay so really I only have one movie going rule..but its an important one.
BUT....I broke this rule last night....and although it was crowded and the floors were so gross and there was food and drinks spilled everywhere (people are messy, inconsiderate pigs), I managed to get past it all and really enjoy the movie. It was interesting and captivating...and I didn't even notice that it was almost 3 hours long.
But due to the length of the movie...I got home at 1:30am last night, and got to bed at 2am. and now I am at work at 8:30am and I can barely function....I am a work zombie.
For the first half hour of work...all I did was log onto my computer...and just stare at the screen. I decided to do a blog because it involves not a lot of thinking...and hopefully that it will require just enough thinking to jump start my brain so I can get to work on actual work...........
ZOMBIE OUT!

New and Improved

So...I went on a little break for awhile.....I wasn't very happy with how things were working out. But after a lot of focusing on myself and doing things outside of work to make myself happy...I am rejuvenated.
And isn't this how it always works...I stopped trying to find a new job and starting trying to find things to make me happy...and BAM, new job. And its a great job. Although it is only a year maternity contract...I am getting tons and tons of great experience, and I am tired of worrying what will happen...its time to focus on the here and now.

But I did learn something, it is wonderful to be supportive of your friends and family but you have to come first. It sounds completely selfish but how are you gonna help your friends if you can't even see past your own misery and unhappiness?

So my suggestion to everyone....do something that will make you happy, do what I did,
take a yoga class, or a jewelry class, or spend an entire day in your pj's watching some sort of marathon on TV. Take some time and focus on yourself.

4 in 1 convertible dress

Halter, wrap, one shoulder, strapless, and many other crazy ways...this was the appeal of my newest purchase. Everyone is always looking for that little black dress, well what better than a little back dress that can go from day to evening or from casual to fancy. That way, if you are strapped for cash, like I am, and you need will have one new dress that you can wear like a billion different ways. So, I am still experimenting with the different ways I can wear it and I will post pictures later but I strongly encourage everyone to go out and buy a convertible dress.
The revolutions made by this one little dress may change the face of the world! Today one dress that can be changed into many different dresses.....Tomorrow convertible EVERYTHING!

Treading Water

Maybe it is the monday morning blues or maybe it is just my hope slowly dying but I am FRUSTRATED with work right now. I work twice as hard as a lot of people I know and get paid almost nothing! My sister makes almost double what I make answering phones; granted, isn't the funnest job and she is one of the hardest workers I know, and deserves the money she makes. But for me, I feel like I am just treading water. I make just about enough money each month to break even...which means in the current job I am in, I will never be able to make enough. Now, most of you out there are probably like, suck it up at least you have a job or if you hate your job so much why don't you find a new one. And yes, I know I am lucky to have a job in comparison to all the others who have unfortuantely been laid off. And no, I am not just sitting around and complaining and never trying to change things or find a new job. I have been actively applying for jobs since Feb and this is what I have to show for it: 0 - job offers, 2 - interviews, 45 - dear john rejection letters, 60 - no responses. So excuse me world if I am feeling a little pesimistic these days.
So what am I doing wrong, I have a kick ass cover letter and resume, I have a business degree, and I am a very hard worker. The only downfall is that i tend to get overly nervous in the interview..but considering I don't mention that in the resume, I should be getting more interviews.
So......I am an over qualified under appreciated admistrative worker who is just treading water, never moving forward and never moving backwards. Just stuck where I am.

(sorry for the depressing monday morning rant, but sometimes you just need a little rant to purge the system of the negativity)

TTC Manners

I am relatively new to the ttc riding world, and I have noticed a few things that I would just like to clarify.
1. People should be let off first! so if you are that person pushing your way on to the train before the people get a chance to get off...Back up and relax, the train ain't leaving without you and if it does the next one will come along in like 2 minutes.
2. Look around before choosing your spot to stand! I know that holding onto a poll is important when you have to stand on the subway but that does not mean you can crowd someone into a corner. Also if the subway has now become less crowded and there is more space available...move to make room for the person you are crowding!
3. If you are sitting beside someone, DO NOT take up as much room as you feel like! Yes we would all love to spread out and be comfortable but sometimes you can't and because you want to doesn't make that okay. It is not a place to read the news paper all unfolded because there isn't room for that and the person beside you doesn't want to read your newspaper.

Anyways these are just a few rules that I have come up with to help make the subway experience better.

new resolutions

Okay, I know most of you only make resolutions at new years but I think it shouldn't matter the time of year...you should make it when you feel it is needed. Me for example, my new resolution is to stop letting fear control me. Fear is a big enemy for me, you may even call him my arch-nemesis! A lot of times I let fear control what I do.....BUT not anymore. It is time for me to take control of my life and kick fear out. So how do I do this...its not like I can just start with like base jumping or something. So baby steps. And I can tell you excitedly that I did something that I have always been terrified of....A blind date. Dates in general..not my strong suit because I am sort of socially awkward, and when I get nervous I tend to ramble.
But doing something that scares you and seeing that it isn't that scary is very empowering.
I suggest all of you out there go out and do one thing that scares you. You will feel amazing afterwards.

Logan VS the Fan

Okay, in my apartment I have NO air conditioning, and one little fan in the bedroom. So Logan is very interested in this fan, I think the fan must have offended him in some way because he keeps trying to defeat it. No this fan is all that stands between me and overheating....so I am very protective of this fan. I had to time out Logan like 8 times last night, and every time the time out was over he immediately comes running back into the room and jumps on top of the fan and knocks it over. I am gonna hold peace talks to see if I can stop the fan violence so we can live in a slightly cooler environment.

meet Remy and Logan

Remy's a pretty laid back cat, doesn't get into too much trouble....well in comparison to his brother. He is not the most graceful cat, he falls over all of the time, once he fell in the toilet. He is also much more vocal than his brother.
Logan, he is a climber, i like call him my parrot cat because he insists on sitting on my shoulder or being draped around my neck when ever he can. To get to my shoulder he climbs up my side which let me tell you....hurts. He also has crazy nails that i have the hardest time cutting.

Anyways they are my babies but they drive me crazy at two in the morning. They like to wrestle on me while i am sleeping.

The pickled cucumber

A pickled cucumber, most often simply called a pickle in the United States and Canada, is a cucumber that has been pickled in a brine, vinegar, or other solutions and left to ferment for a period of time.
There are many different types of pickles:
- Gherkin
- Kosher dill
- Polish
- Lime
- Bread and butter
- Swedish and Danish
- Kool-Aid Pickles (a.k.a. "Koolickles")

My favourite way to eat pickles is to take a bite of a pickle and then cram plain chips into your mouth at the same time and then let the pickles and chips co-mingle in your mouth...it is awesome.

Nutrition
Like pickled vegetables such as sauerkraut and dilly beans, sour pickled cucumbers (technically a fruit) are low in calories. They also contain a moderate amount of vitamin K, specifically in the form of K1. One sour pickled cucumber "spear" offers 12-16 µg, or approximately 15-20%, of the Recommended Daily Allowance of vitamin K. It also offers about 4 calories, all of which come from carbohydrate. However, most sour pickled cucumbers are also high in sodium; one spear can contain 350-500 mg, or 15-20% of the recommended daily American limit of 2400 mg.
Sweet pickled cucumbers, including bread-and-butter pickles, are higher in calories due to their sugar content; one large gherkin may contain 25-40 calories. However, sweet pickled cucumbers also tend to contain significantly less sodium than sour pickles.

I hope you enjoyed learning about pickles as much as i have.

Did you miss me?

So, I am sure by now everyone has given up on my blog and stopped reading it. But oh well. I have lots of new stuff to write about. I have moved out in February and I am living on my own for the first time in my life....it's awesome and I love it. I have also adopted two baby kittens, Logan and Remy. The main thing that is affecting my new exciting independent life....MONEY. I have never really had to manage my own expenses before and it is hard. Now instead of buying anything I want....I must budget. Years of making fun of steph for being 'frugal' and I have now become her. That is a scary thought.
