Fork Lift Operator

So in my never ending quest for a part time job...which is going horribly by the way....I found this part time position at Brinks. Its perfect for me...I work at a bank...I know money. But upon further investigation it is for the operation of their coin rolling machines and you are required to have a Fork Lift certification and be able to fix the machines if they break....but I am not giving up hope yet...I researched online and to become fork lift certified it will only cost 49.95....and it is good for 3 years.
Now my brother-in-law doesn't think that this is the right job for me, he isn't sure if operating heavy machinery is a smart choice. And to be fair...I do get distracted by shiny things really easily. But I would bring so much to the fork lift world, I would be-dazzle my overalls, and pretty up my hard-hat.................Okay Okay....let's be realistic...i am fooling myself that a smart company like Brinks would trust me to drive their fork lifts.
But DUDES...I need a part time job....money doesn't grow on trees...and if I want my eyes lasered so I can wear sunglasses whenever I want..and never have to worry about my headbands and glasses competing for premium behind the ear space....I need money.
I am now willing to take suggestions about part time work....in fact...potential employers if you are out there...I am a dedicated often overly enthusiastic worker who is great with customers....please hire me!!!!

Chia Challenge - The Final Days

So, Monday is judgement day for our beloved chia's Melvin and Gari and we are sad to be at the end of the challenge.
Gari is a rockstar, his fro is out of control...even his neck hair is froing out.
Melvin on the other hand....he is looking slightly bent. By that I mean, for some reason all his hair is growing to one side. I just tell everyone he is trying to be fashion forward with his style...but in reality, I feel like I let Melvin down with my inability to grow plants. Seriously I have killed cacti before. The only plant I have ever been able to keep has been Frank the miracle plant. I have killed him three times but he just keeps growing back. Unfortunately I had to give him back to my parents because the distructo kitties were quite interested in destroying him.
ANYWAY...back to the Chia's.
I know I promised pictures but I still can't find my damn camera cord...I really put it in a safe place this time. But again...I have the final pictures up on my facebook if you want to see them. (yay for mobile uploads)

Tin's Adventure to the Eye Doctor

So, I haven't been to see my eye doctor in awhile. And during this absence...he up and sells his practice and than retires. What..I didn't approve this change.

Its that time of year where my eyes get extremely itchy and dry. I mean my eyes are normally and naturally dry...but this time of year they get worse. So I decided since its been so long, I should probably get my eyes checked. Also, on a side note, my friend Lindsay just got her eyes lasered and I am super jealous. I know I have always said I would never want a laser in my eye...and that I would be content to wear contacts...but due to my extremely dry eyes....contacts are becoming more and more uncomfortable and glasses...well the distructo kitties have done a number on these glasses...and they keep falling off my face and they are constantly dirty......................Okay...Back on topic.

So the new eye doctor location is at The Shops at Don Mills. My appointment is at 4:30. Me being crazy...booked half a day off just in case I got lost trying to find this place. So off I go with my ttc suggested route. King subway to eglinton station, than the 54A Lawrence East bus to Starspray blvd. The subway part was easy enough....but the bus...now that was a little bit more annoying. The 54 kept coming but no 54A. So about half an hour later it finally shows up. Riding on the bus...I am getting more and more paranoid that I am going the wrong direction. So, bad decision..but I jump off the bus because I am convinced I missed my stop. And now I am in the middle of nowhere...and I have no idea where I am or what direction to go. Well thank the lord for my phone having some sort of map thing. I mapped up my location and walked 20 minutes in the correct direction and found the mall. WOOT WOOT.
Than my eye doctor's appointment....I liked the doctor (not as much as i like my vet...he's a hottie) but me and Dr. Eye gossiped about tiger woods...and he was very knowledgeable. All in all I was satisfied with my visit. Also he says I am a great candidate for laser eye surgery. WOOT!
So than I start to adventure back home but my eyes are all dilated...and the sun hurts my eyes and everything is blurry...but I make it to the bus, except I accidentally cut a lady off getting on the bus (Woops). Then I take a bus, subway, & street car to get home. I am disoriented the entire time, I can see far away with my glasses on..but everything close up is blurry due to the drops..than I take my glasses off and everything is clear close up and blurry far way. I am surprised I didn't get lost.
NEXT ADVENTURE....Laser eye surgery consultation!!!

The Dreaded.......

2 Minute Wall Sit

Okay, now since most of you guys reading this blog are family or friends (thanks by the way for reading it) everyone knows all about the boot camp me and steph joined.

But just in case you are new here...Hi I'm Erin aka Tin, welcome!

So Back to my story. This boot camp is high energy and quite intense. And as much as it makes me want to come up with excuses to miss class....it is getting results. I have started to notice that I am developing arm muscles, I can do regular push-ups!!
But there are three exercises that Marv (Captain Boot Camp) makes us do that I hate.

1. Chin ups - I can't lift my own body weight...also having everyone standing around watching you attempt the chin up, not my idea of a good time.

2. The Knee Tap Drill - basically you jump your knees to your chest for 20 seconds then immediately jump both heels to your bum for 20 seconds, then immediately..scissor jumps. Than usually for fun after this drill Marv makes us do burpies...than usually back into the knee tap drill again...than more burpies. He usually has us do this at the end of the class, and you're extra tired so its extra 'fun'.

AND...
3. The Wall Sit - basically you stand with your back against the wall and your feet about hip width apart and you sit. Your legs are at 90 degrees and then you just hold it. Your legs start shaking and burning...its not fun

But this Monday he raised the stakes of the Wall Sit. Side Note *I recently joined Monday night class, and I am completely out of my element, this is the class with all the semi-professional athletes...and then there's me. They have no problem doing most of these exercises and I am just struggling to make it to the end of class.* But two nights ago, he made us hold a wall sit for 2 minutes and then he told us this.

"You can all hold this for two minutes, and if one of you doesn't make it the full 2 minutes...you are all doing push ups"

I already feel like an outcast in that class, I am so intimidated by everyone being in great shape, I am always quiet...I never talk. Which as you guys know is strange...most of the time people can't get me to shut up.
So then he tells us we should encourage the people that look like they aren't gonna make it. and everyone starts encouraging me. Now granted I am sure they are just trying to be nice and I already know that I am the weak link in the class. But I wasn't even starting to fade yet and they are already encouraging me???

I know I know they were just trying to be nice...but my one goal in Monday night class...really in any boot camp class is to not be noticed.

You guys are all like WHAT?? not be noticed but it is a class of max 8 people you can't hide.....
Its time for another lesson in Crazy Erin Thought Processing...
When I am feeling insecure or not confident, I like to blend into the back ground.
With boot camp, I am still not as good as everyone else. I acknowledge that I am bunches better than when I started. But I feel like I am still not up to par. Therefore the desire to not be noticed.

So encouraging me just made me want to take a dive just so I could force them all to do push ups. But that isn't nice and it would have drawn too much attention to myself....so I closed my eyes and held it...yup..I held a two minute wall sit.

Monday - 2 minute wall sit...someday soon...bikini.....not!

Shoes, Dancing, and Drugs

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was really good.
Friday I went out and actually spent money on real running shoes, from New Balance. I have been in boot camp for 6 months, it seems to be sticking, so I thought it was time to retire my body break shoes I bought at walmart. I was a little overwhelmed by all the shoes, so the Shoe guy 'Scott' took a look at my walk, he wanted me to roll my pant legs up and I was like crap, my legs are really hairy and I am wearing ankle socks. But for the good of my feet, I swallowed my embarrassment and showed him my walk with my hairy legs on display. Apparently, my arches fold inwards so I had to get some sort of shoe that lifts them up. And I felt like royalty because Scott put them on and took them off. I bought the first pair I tried on. Later I learned that they came in other colours...which made me sad because I bought white shoes. I should have got more funly (i know not a word) coloured shoes.
Saturday I did a make up boot camp followed by a free Pilates class. I felt very proud of myself for being so active on a Saturday morning when normally all I do is sleep. Then I debated going out to look for 'fashion sneakers' because my old ones are falling apart. But instead I had a nap than met up with my boot camp friends for a fun night out on the town.
Now normally I hang out with all guys. But these girls are all around my age and single like me. I have never hung out with single girls before, all my close girl friends are in serious relationships or married. So it has been an experience...and you know what, I had the most awesome time Saturday night, we went out and just had fun and danced. Another thing I liked, there was no crazy drinking or fights or drama. Just four girls having fun. I forgot how much fun you can have without alcohol. I personally am trying not to drink alcohol anymore...I don't have fun getting drunk and I don't see the point of getting drunk.
Than Sunday, I dragged my friend Chris off to see The Runaways. It was a good movie, I like there music and I thought the performances were really well acted. Especially Dakota Fanning. She was only 15 when she filmed this movie and seriously...she has some acting chops.
Anyways....It was a good weekend....a really good weekend.

HOCKEY UPDATE
I did not change my hockey team, it remains the same! and I am hoping for a strong showing of not last!

Hockey Update

So...I have been informed by my sister that I should have never picked Dany Heaty. She tells me he is a bad person. There was something about how he is a murderer and a complainer and stuff. Which makes me worry...I don't want a person that brings bad karma to my team.
So Morality question people:
Do I take him off my team because of his past? please give reasons with your answers. Also if you suggest I take him off my team, who should I replace him with?

Hockey Playoff's Pool

My friend Cameron loves to create sports pools for our group of friends/relatives to compete in. We have done this for as long as I can remember. Its always football and hockey. Now, I don't know if you know this about me...but I know nothing about sports and I enjoy randomness and chaos. So basically, if you take competition very seriously...don't ever play with me. For example, we had an Olympic hockey pool and we had to make two teams of 6 players (including 1 goalie). Since I know nothing about hockey...my first team was Jerome ignlia (i love his smoochy nose) and anyone who's birthday was close to mine. The second team was people with the name Henrik and Dimitri. So as you can see. As Cameron likes to say..I tend to always have the most 'interesting and diverse' picks. That's his nice way of saying I'm crazy.

So the current pool starting March 21st is a play off pool. Here are the rules:

1. Everyone picks 10 Skaters, 1 goalie
2. Teams due by March 21st.
3. 2 Trades permitted prior to the first round of the playoffs
4. 2 Trades permitted prior to the beginning of each additional round of the playoffs
5. Same scoring as the Olympic Hockey Pool. You get a point for every point your players get(Plus goalies get one point per win and 3 additional points for a shut out)
6. 10 additional points will be awarded to team that has the most players from the Stanley cup winning team.
7. In the event of a tie, the team with the most goals wins

Here are my picks:
Goalie: Ryan Miller (his birthday is near mine, so i like him)
1. Jerome Ignila (for reasons stated above)
2. Henrik Sedin (his birthday is near mine, and his name is Henrik!!!!!)
3. Daniel Sedin (i picked his brother and i didn't want him to feel left out)
4. Ryan Kesler (i like his last name)
5. Seven Stamkos (he is from Markham)
6. Nicklas Backstrom (no reason...just because)
7. Joe Thorton (he seems like he needs a friend)
8. Dany Heatley (so he can be Joe's friend)
9. Alexander Semin (i saw his picture and he seemed a little scary, then i felt bad for thinking he looked scary so i picked him)
10. Matthew Corrente (Today's his birthday and this is my present to him)

PS. I also like to cheer for the underdog. My favourite foot ball team is New Orleans for two reasons. 1. They were the worst team in the league when I picked them, and I felt they needed my unconditional support (and they just won the Superbowl...i believe a thank you erin is in order)
2. The short form is NO and that makes me laugh.

Aren't I great at sports and stuff!

Chi Chi Chi Chia

So we started the Chia Challenge last Monday. and here's the update...I am losing. Melvin looks like he is balding and has recently gotten hair plugs. Gari on the other hand has a fro that is bountiful and lush.
I taken pictures every day on my cellphone and uploaded them to facebook. Most of you readers are also facebook friends so I would advise you to look there until I find my camera cord and can upload the pictures on my camera. I lose that damn camera cord all the time...see I put it in a safe place to keep the destructo-kitties from destroying it..and I can never remember where that safe place is.

On another note. Tonight is Taco Night and I am headed over to Steph and Mark's. I can't wait I love me some Tacos.

CTV Update

So....after that very upsetting discovery on Thursday that my last name was potentially offensive, I e-mailed CTV asking for advice on how to still enter the contest. And guess what....they never responded, WHAT JERKS. And now the contest is over because it was an Oscar's contest. I never even got the chance to compete....And let me tell you, I TOTALLY would have won.....I'm not lying....okay...i probably wouldn't have won..but we will never know now. All because CTV is Name Judgers. Yes that is right CTV...I am calling you a name judger! Take That!!!
CTV has just made it onto my revenge list....now to plan a very complicated revenge scheme with costumes and elaborate plans....that will ultimately fail because I got distracted by something shiny, and I am not very good at the follow through or being mean. But the revenge scheme will be a masterpiece....Involving me getting a job there and befriending the next up and coming executive, than after gaining his complete trust, I will suggest to him that he should create a company wide policy that everyone changes their name to COX. HA HA HA HA...that is such a great and evil plan. I am such an EVIL GENIUS!!!

Get a new Last Name???

OH CTV, if it wasn't so funny, I would be so mad at you.

Okay people, here's the best and probably funniest thing that happened to me in weeks.

My sister wouldn't stop talking about all these contests she is joining because she loves free stuff....I thought, I like free stuff...maybe I should start applying for some. So, I log onto the CTV website and they have this Contest where if you pick the right winners for the Oscars, you could win a trip to LA with lots of spending money. So, I go to register...I fill out all the required fields and hit submit...nothing happens. So I scroll back up to the top of the page and there is this tiny star beside my last name. I roll my mouse over the star and a message appears.

'YOUR LAST NAME CONTAINS WORDS INDENTIFIED AS BEING POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE TO SOME PEOPLE PLEASE SELECT ANOTHER'

Really CTV????

Okay, I know my last name isn't the best last name in the world...and I grew up being made fun of because of it. but I learned to deal with it and accept it.

Also, get your mind out of the gutter CTV, its a perfectly acceptable last name.

Also....Select another??? REALLY?!?!?! well okay than. If it was that easy, don't you think I would have done that during the playground teasing?

At first I was confused by the message, than outraged....and then I laughed for like 20minutes...I laughed so hard I thought I was gonna pee my pants.

But after I finally calmed down..I thought...hmmm...I am gonna e-mail ctv and tell them the problem, its not fair that they discriminate against me because of my last name.

Although, every time I think about the situation I can't help but laugh at the absurdity of the whole thing.

What's new in Tin Town

So it has been a few days since I last blogged and you are all probably just desperate to know...what's new in tin town?
Well...I heard from loblaws, they were all 'sorry we have been playing phone tag, if you could call me between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday March 3rd hopefully we will be able to actually get in touch' So I called....and called...and called. NO ANSWER. So, around 2:30, i left a message....4pm roles around and no phone call....WELL LOBLAWS...you just made yourself a POWERFUL ENEMY!!! I am instituting a boycott...well, okay not a real boycott because that is where I buy my groceries and all the other grocery stores are far away and I am lazy...but...Consider yourselves boycotted in spirit. I am so gonna....think mean thoughts. Okay, so I am not good at the whole revenge thing because I feel bad. But Karma...karma will sort everything out!
You know, that's why I don't like to watch the Olympics, I get to emotionally invested and then I feel bad for the person that doesn't win. For example, I am happy that we won the gold in hockey...woot woot...but after the game, the USA team looked so sad, I wished we could give them each a gold medal and a hug for trying really hard.
On another note in regards to the Olympics, I find myself curiously filled with a need to get something with Canada on it. I am not really what you would call a joiner...I don't like to dress the same as people, I don't like to wear name brands because I don't like providing free advertising. But I have developed this obsession with owning those fake native american sweaters that the bay made, you know the ones with the moose on the front. But they are sold out everywhere, so I checked eBay..they were like $200. And as nice as that sweater is, and as much as I want it. I am not paying $200. But the more I thought about it the more I justified the purchase in my head. So back to eBay I go...and DUDE its now $400. The athletes had to wear the sweaters at the closing ceremonies, didn't they. Damn it.
But...now I have had time to distance myself from the patriotic olympics..and...I still want that damn sweater, no matter how dorky I will look in it.
