YAY tomorrow is a holiday......i am currently VERY excited about my day off tomorrow. There is a harry potter marathon on space! Although this will be the first easter in awhile that i am actually having an easter. Normally mom and dad are in mexico, steph and mark go to mark's parents, and andrea and wylie go to wylie's parents. And i am cat sitting Max and Daisy. It is usually awesome fun, i go to mom and dad's order swiss chalet for dinner and rent a bunch of movies...then me and the cats watch movies, craft, and hang out in our sweat pants.
But this easter....Mom and dad are still in town and grandma is coming up. We are all going to see The Wizard of Oz on saturday, then having Easter dinner on sunday. I am excited but dude...i am going to miss my sweatpants. So i am going to spend friday being lazy and recreating my easter...although i don't know if swiss chalet is open on friday...so i may need to stop at the grocery store tonight to get some stuff. I was also thinking of making cream eggs on friday but do i want to bake??? that will interfere with sweatpant/harry potter marathon. Plus i am no where near finished that blanket...so i need to really crack down. so friday i will be forcing myself to do nothing but crocheting...hahahaha...forcing myself. it is never a force.
Also, steph's birthday is tomorrow. Everyone wish her a happy birthday.
And have a great LONG weekend.
Random side note, Alex did Matt get his present, I didn't get a chance to mail it so i gave it to your mom to take to you guys last weekend.

And Slowly Beautiful
I went to see a play with Jenn last night at Tarragon theater. I did not know what it was about or what to expect. It was a wonderful play about a man who goes to see a play that moves him very much. The play he goes to see is Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov. I am not very well versed in the world of plays and arts so i had never heard of Three sisters or Chekhov but Jenn tells me that the Three Sisters play is beautiful (she read it when she was getting her english degree). What i liked about it was the very simple concept and very real and relatable moments. A man sees a play that moves him. He begins to see his life through a new lens and questions it.
Everyone has those moments....did i make the right choice, am i doing what i want to do, should i change course? Try something new?
Remember how upset i was about my old job, how unsatisfied...how much i hated going every day...those questions flowed through my head back then...and i was sad very sad that i didn't think my life was headed in the right direction. But without that direction....i would't have made it to where i am now. And i am happy where i am now. I am not in the exact position i want to stay in for the rest of my life...but i am in the right industry, i am with the right group of people. You could say i found my people.
In other news....i need a new goal to work towards....one to focus me and drive me....i miss the looming pressure of my half marathon. Not the running but the regimented focus of having to work towards a goal. I don't really want to run another half marathon but i need something. Any suggestions....mom seems to really want to do tough mudder...but i hear you have to run through a lot of crazy things. And i am not a huge runner, so adding extra things...probably will make me angrier not happier.
The only run i am looking forward to is the colour run. I love the idea of it and how much fun it sounds....i can't wait to be a rainbow. I am going to have to find white shorts and tall socks....and maybe one of those headbands....get a real 'look' going. But it will be difficult because i don't wear much white...i don't like the blankness of it. I need colour! I am seriously excited and i can't wait!

Karma Rewards
So, i just wanted you to know...i am a great sister. I went to Steph's last night and helped her clean her apartment. Why you ask...because she asked me and i am a great sister! And today i came in to work....and i got a plant and some rockets on my desk.
The rockets....AWESOME. I love rockets.
The plant, is a red tulip, it is beautiful but as i have said before....i have a black thumb when it comes to plants. My one manager is loves plants and is great at gardening and the whole shebang. She gave me the tulip as a happy spring present. Isn't that so nice. So nice. I love it....i just hope i don't kill it!
Anyways....i am going to a plan tonight with Jenn. I am really excited. Apparently this week is my theatre/culture week. I am doing a play tonight and a musical on saturday. Also i think i will bake on good friday. Maybe make some spiced nuts for mom to put out on easter (i found a recipe on Martha Steward, she never disappoints....except when she cancels Everyday Foods and sticks me with a martha steward living magazine). Let's face it, as nice as martha steward's ideas are.....i am not martha, and i won't be decorating my house with recycled sea glass in jars with flowers etc. I loved everyday foods...it told me what veggies were in season when....i never could keep track...and although i don't cook...i think one day i may...so getting a cooking magazine inspires me.
Okay....that was a random tangent, apparently i am more upset than i realized about the everyday food cancelation.
Here are some recipes i found and LOVE and will make!!!!!
Martha's Spicy Nuts
Joy the Baker Spicy Seeds
Joy the Baker Apple Donuts
And my new favourite thing in the world...i will be adding bacon and eating it on toast!!!
Avocado Egg Cups

Ticket to Ride
So....my weekend was awesome and i really wish i wasn't back at work because i have so much to do and lots of training that will take me away from my desk today. So i will get further behind again today which only frustrates me more.
What did i do this weekend that was so fun. Well for starters I met Amy's puppy, he is 3 years old and he is so hugable, very well behaved and well trained too. I am in love!
Then we met up with Steph, Mark, Ryan, Will, and Andrew for dinner and visits. It was a good dinner...steph and mark nicely provided table nachos. I think all dinners should start with nachos. They just make everything delicious! I really enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone. Then off we went to the Trump hotel to play Ticket to ride (a boardgame) in Ryan and Will's SUITE...that's right...it was super fancy...i mean i am normally not swayed by a mini bar....actually i don't think i have ever stayed at a hotel that has a mini bar. They had m&m's in this tiny fancy jar. the packaging really made me want to open them. But me and Will instead went for a nice walk up to the 711. I also would like to say....i won Ticket to Ride...that is right....go me...woot! It seemed like you have to think a lot about where you are going to and be thoughtful about where you head for your trains.
Saturday, i took a big long walk and then relaxed and worked on my blanket...i really want to get this blanket done before grandma gets up but...i miss read the instructions and i have a whole extra round to do...which is like 50 rows.
Sunday, me and mom went shopping....she says she always buys unneeded stuff when she is with me...but i think she just uses me as an excuse. Target was nice and shiny....the shoe section wasn't impressive, the nail polish was slightly cheaper....and the clothes were really nice - a lot of great dresses. But all i bought was a new sports bra. I got this neon pink sports bra when i was with alex and amy shopping in the states at target..and i loved it..not as a work out bra but as a nice around the house bra....and i have never found another that i liked, and they have them at target still.....so this time...electric blue!
Then the walking dead was on....major character death last night.....it was kind of surprising although he wasn't my favourite....my favourite was deeply affected by this death. Sad faces all around.

Half success
So i did try the headband curls again last night...and they work really good....in the front but never curls well in the back...plus it is really uncomfortable because i get headband head. I feel like it is squeezing my head so much.
So this morning i took out the headband and i have crazy curls in the front and like a few non curls in the back. I decided to keep it down and put a hat on...it covers the worst parts and the nicest parts are out. I think it is time to admit the headband curls is the technique most likely to work. The only problem is it is my least favourite because of headband head. It just gives me such a head ache and then i have to ask myself....are curls worth it?
Last night was my first boot camp since i have come back from illness. It was rough because it was all cardio and running and dragging people. Right now...my shoulders are killing me! my legs are sore and i think i am going to be really stiff by the end of the day. But...i am back on track!!!
In other news....Amy got a puppy!!!! and i am going there after work today and i am going to hug him so much!!! it is going to be hug town population Erin and Austin (the dog).
My friend makes fun of me because she says hugs don't solve all problems...but i have developed a hug system for remy....when he is good he gets a yay remy hug, when he is bad he gets a punishment hug, and when he is begging for attention he gets an attention hug (that's my favourite type of hug because he then realizes he did not want hug attention and stops bothering me....see he always wants attention when i am sleeping...so after the attention hug, i can sleep uniterrupted!!)
So plans for this weekend....puppy hugs, then fun dinner, then boardgames. Saturday i am going to visit with mom, bring her some tea because she is feeling crappy, and then hopefully convince her or dad to go to target, then sunday...run club and blanket crunch. I have to get this blanket done before grandma gets to town next weekend.
I hope that all of you guys have great weekends and lots of fun adventures!

Back to business
I got back to my regularly scheduled routine yesterday....after battling this horrible sickness for two weeks...i went running last night with Tak and it felt.......not great but much better than it did two sundays ago. So i am feeling like i am getting back into the routine. I do have Marv's tonight and it is going to be rough. With this new 6pm time, i am having the hardest time making it to class. But i am going to be strong and firm with work and tell them i have a hard stop and have to leave at 5:15 to get to class and change. I am going to be so sore tomorrow from tonight's class.
In other news....Will and Ryan are coming to town and i am going to have dinner with them friday night. It will be nice to see them. It is a nice surprise. I would suggest we go to JOEY for dinner for those donuts...but i think something low key may be funner. Joey is sort of all up in it's own importance...although the food is quite delicious and i have never been disappointed about a meal i have had there. They even add slush to their drinks. And you know how i feel about slushies. Hopefully now that it is spring, it will get warm enough soon and i can get back to drinking my slurpees.
I didn't try any hair curls last night because i was had a nice and hot shower after my run and it took forever for my hair to dry. it was still too damp for trying something when i went to bed. If you do any of the curl techniques with overly wet hair...you hair doesn't dry properly and no curls hold. So i will try it tonight...although i will have a shower after boot camp and may run into the same wet hair issue. I guess i could blow dry it. I will play it by ear.
Target is now open in Canada. I am so excited...i am so going to go this weekend and check it out. I am hoping to plan a trip to the states with mom this summer. We have a lot of fun staying over a weekend and just shopping and eating and relaxing. It is a good time!

Fail Number 2
So last night i tried the pony tail then bobby pin the finger rolls....it was okay...well really it gave me more volume than curl....i think my problem is...i am not big on very poofy and i like things very uniform. So when there are more curls on one side in comparison to the other side...it frustrates me. the ponytail/bun curls was very easy to set up and pretty comfortable to sleep in...but i am thinking maybe i put the pony tail too high.
So you start with a pony tail which i put pretty close to the top of my head. Then you separate the pony tail into sections and roll the hair around your fingers until you have rolled it down to the base of the pony tail. You then bobby pin the bottom part of the roll to your head...i did on on each side of the roll. i did this until all the sections done (i did 4 sections). two of the sides curled really great! but two of the sides did not. So i am wondering is the sleeping effected it. and again, the back of my head was barely curled which i think is because i put the pony tail up so high, there wasn't much hair from the back to be curled.
I am thinking it could be a great method but it needs to be perfected. I am debating trying it at work today...seeing how it holds for a few hours then taking it down after work.
So what is tonight's method....well there is one i haven't tried...it is the twisty beard one...but i don't think my hair is long enough. plus i am not convinced it will work. I think i may just skip over that one and do the headband one again and again until it works. I just really need to get the back working right.
Practice makes perfect and i am going to keep trying until i find something that works.

Hair-To
So this week I will be trying out all sorts of ways to curl your hair while sleeping. I use to use the headband method but for some reason my hair no longer curls well that way. it either doesn't curl at all at the back and curls really well at the front or it doesn't curl at all. So i have been doing research to find great new ways to curl your hair while you sleep.
I went to the dollar store last night to pick out all sorts of hair stuff as well as a few more important items like bunny curly straws for easter and some fun craft stuff...and maybe some very important...glow sticks. After like half and hour of shopping i get to the front...my debit card is not working and they don't take visa!!! I think i was like seriously...then turned and left...just abandoning all my stuff at the cash. It was a very grumpy moment for me.
So i didn't have all the supplies to do what i wanted...so i tried the first one...which is separate your hair into sections, and finger twist until the section is all twisted up...then clip up...so i had trouble just clipping the twists up so i twisted them further into little twisty buns and clipped those. It wasn't so bad to sleep in because the twists were all on the sides of my head. So i took out the clips this morning...and they were not nice curls...they were all kinked and twisted due to the extra twists i added to get them to stay in the clips.
Status = fail. So i had to wet it and brush it out and then put it in my bun to hide the terribleness that is my hair.
Tonight i am going to try the pony tail with the finger curls. I am hoping I can make it work...if it doesn't there is one more to try...if that doesn't work...then i have to go back to the headband curls.
Here are a few online tutorials i found that show you the different types of no heat overnight hair curls:

A very princess 4th birthday
So it was Ally's 4th birthday on friday, we all traveled out to mom and dad's for the birthday party friday night. She had a great time. Dad got the biggest princess cake possible and when it came out she was just stared at it for like 5 minutes.
The present opening was my favourite part because Braydon felt there was a schedule to keep and wouldn't let Ally admire any of her presents....as soon as one was open...he was handing her the next one trying to get her to open it right away. He didn't want anything dragging. She got very girlie things from everyone and loved them all.
On saturday me and mom and andrea took her to disney on ice....and she wore the best outfit ever. i got her this disney tutu thing:

She wore it with some white leggings with pink hearts and a long sleeved pink top underneath. Then she carried the pink flowered purse she got from nana and wore all of her jewelry she got for her birthday plus an extra necklace and bracelet and ring. Most kids were dressed in disney costumes....Ally already an original when it comes to fashion.
We had lunch first where she got the coolest drink i have ever seen with coloured merichino cherries and a cotton candy flower. Then pizza for lunch and ice cream for dessert. She was so excited and she had so much sugar in her system. We were ready for disney on ice. We get to the show and buy a program and this light up spinny thing...i am trying to post pictures from the show but when i import them they are all sideways and apparently i don't have permission to rotate them....stupid computers. Don't mind me...me and my computers are fighting....i told my laptop that if it didn't get it's act together and stop being so mean to me i was going to trade it in for shoes. okay....random tangent....back to the real story.
She had a great time....at disney on ice, then she wanted ice cream....so we got her ice cream...i have a really cute picture of that but see above explanation for why it is not posted here! Then they took the go train home and mom told Ally read the program the entire way home.

Tips from Me to You
Because i am trying to behave and not do as much shopping. I thought today i would tell you where i like to go online to check out awesome and cool stuff.
Beyond the Rack - my co-worker told me about it. So they have limited time sales on designer stuff. The best part is all the shoe sales they have. The best part is no only do they have women's stuff, they have men's, children, curvy, and home. Plus they ship within Canada so you don't have to pay duty on the items that are coming from across the border (this is what i have been told, i actually have only put in one order and it hasn't come yet)
Modcloth - my classic favourite. They have a great sale section. Draw back, their jewelry although is totally awesome, breaks easily. So buyer beware....but they have great customer service and will be happy to replace or refund anything. You will have to pay duty....and they don't always price things correctly...my $30 shower curtain was priced at double that when it came through.
Urban Outfitters online - i go here mainly because i love the apartment stuff. They seriously have the coolest housewares! They even have online deals for like shelves and other furniture. I haven't ordered any furniture but i got glasses and they shipped safely and quickly.
So to recap - BTR i go to look at crazy discounted shoes, modcloth i go to look at sales and jewelry, and urban outfiters is for housewares. All these stores have other things that are just as good....but those are the things that speak to me at each store.
I have only had one bad experience with online shopping but it was mainly the shipper not the store...the store was quick to refund but i didn't like how there were very dismissive of my complaint...they were kind of just like whatever here's your money back. I won't shop there online anymore and the actual store has some really cool pieces but it's a skinny person store, and a lot of times, my boobs just don't fit! And all the cool inexpensive jewelry i love at their online store, just isn't in the stores....so i am sort of writing that store off....although i know i can never write it off for good.
If you have any stores you like online, let me know. I am curious in JustFab.ca because yay discount shoes. but i don't like the idea of have to opt out each month or you have to pay for the shoes they select for you. I also saw a commercial last night for shoemint.com which is steve madden and rachel bilson shoe thing...i think it is very similar to just fab but i haven't checked it out. Are shoe clubs worth it?
I am NOT a Leper
So.....How has my week been going. Well i spent the weekend enjoying myself and feeling way better from this annoying throat infection. Then i got up and ran 10km with run club on Sunday By the time i got home, i was feeling horrible and exhausted. All i wanted to do was sleep for hours...which i did. Then in the morning i was going to call in sick. But i had reception, and i am not one to skip out on my duties. So i came in...then got lectured by everyone...about not coming in when you are sick and staying home and getting better. Well here is a little thing you need to learn about me. I am the WORST sick person ever. I fight it...i fight it until i basically pass out from exhaustion. I refuse to admit that i am as sick as i am...and then i power through until it goes away. Most of the time, people don't really notice or if they do...i am pretty good and just joking it off. Well i guess on Monday i looked much worse than i normally do...so i got sent home by everyone. Then because i knew i would get sent home again...i stayed home on Tuesday too. Did it help, sure i guess it did.....did i resent getting sent home...YES. Was i full of grump and arguing...yes, in fact mom didn't want to talk to me Monday night because i was too defensive and argumentative about being sent home.
So....clearly i have some sick issues. Will i be better about being sick next time? Nope....i know myself and i will probably always fight my sickness....i am just a stubborn person.
So what else is new....well Ally's birthday is on friday!!!! she turns 4 years old. She is growing up really fast. I got her a ballet outfit with a giant tutu. Because you need to capitalize on your tutu wearing years...because they will be gone before you know it. Oh tutu years, how i miss you!
I also saw the new Die Hard on the weekend with Mom and Dad. Me and Dad loved it...i don't know if mom appreciated it's lots of explosions and little plot. I thought it was a great mix of explosions and car chases. And could Bruce Willis be any cooler? I don't think so.

Weird Dreams
Last night, i felt like i didn't sleep...not really, i had a bunch of weird dreams but i knew they were dreams and i felt like i could wake up at any time i wanted. Maybe because for the past few days i have been taking cold medicine but i didn't want to take any last night, so i didn't.
My voice is at maybe 20%
Why do illnesses always affect me this way...stupid throat infections....it goes right to the core of things i don't like....not being able to talk....and having to only consume liquids like soup. Stupid soup, stop trying to be a meal. I really need to get to the bottom of my irrational anger towards soup. I don't know where it comes from...all i know is soup makes me angry.
In other news....because crusty Erin has pretty much taken over. I went to david's tea yesterday to cheer myself up. I tried some of their new spring collection and re-stocked my Read My Lips. I seriously would like to live in read my lips....it makes me happy.
I am going to try pom tango today because it is one of the new teas....i also got ceylon star and honeydue matte to test...i only got like 10 grams of each to see what i think of them. Ceylon star has coconut in it so i don't know if i will like it..but when i smell it, it doesn't give me any coconut smells. I think that is the key to my anti-coconut tea...if it is hidden by other more stronger smells and taste, then i will like the tea.
So i am going to the new die hard with my dad tomorrow. we missed the imax version because of stupid Oz and James Franco (BOOO) but we will still enjoy it on the regular sized big screen. That is really my only plan this weekend, i do want to go see Andrea and the kids but i don't think it is wise with my illness, even though i am not contagious....i don't want to risk them getting sick before march break. I also want to go see all dad's hard work with the storage room. I am sure it looks awesome.
The other thing i want to do this weekend is finish my blanket...i am so close. I have one last pattern round and then i have to do the boarder. Then i will be finished and i can move onto other projects...like carolyn's hat and the log cabin blanket. I have never kept a blanket i have made and i may keep the log cabin...but only because it will be the first blanket i ever knit...and first time projects never work out well....like the first blanket i ever crocheted fell apart because i didn't make the ends long enough and everything unraveled.
In other craft news....I thought i came up with a fun new word...but apparently it's not new at all. "crafternoon" oh well....i will start using it in my ever day vocab. Also, my friend Kelly has asked me to cool up her white dresser....which sounds awesome. The first piece of furniture i ever fancied up was the dresser mom put in my room in high school saying if you don't put your clothes away...i will throw them away. It was a big boring white dresser so i glued glass beads all over it and then army men across the top. The next item was when i first moved into my apartment and i was overwhelmed with all the white, so i took craft paint and painted a bunch of red and gold squares all over it in a very geometric crazy pattern. Now Kelly wants me to update her plain white dresser....i am thinking mod podge some leopard print paper on the inside of the drawers, and paint the outside aqua blue with purple accents and one draw will be just polka dots. But that is a work in progress. I love crafting!

Where have i been?
I have another freaking throat infection!!! Some days i wish i got my tonsils removed. I don't get colds, they always settle into my throat. I think this all stems from the incredibly cold night at our achievement in athletics party Saturday night. Marv does not have any heat in the converted mechanics garage we work out in. Normally it is not that bad because we are working up a sweat...and feeling the burn. Saturday night, in our nice outfits it was cold. I never noticed it before but normally i will have a few drinks at the annual party and they make them STRONG. This time, I didn't want to drink, so I didn't have the artificial warmth of alcohol to keep me warm. Then all day Sunday it was sneeze town, population me! Then Monday and Tuesday same thing....sneezing non-stop with just the feeling of cruddiness settling in. Yesterday...i couldn't take it....so i went home and tried to sleep. Instead Remy pawed me in the face for attention brought me toys and finally he fell asleep...but then i couldn't sleep because i wasn't tired any more.
I am back at work today....being super crusty about things and want everyone to stop talking to me! I swear...the next person that calls or stops by my desk will get Bitch Me instead of So Glad To See You Me. What is driving me crazy today? Everything!
I am trying to decide if i should go to boot camp tonight.....i can breath but i my upper chest feels congested and fleemy. I went to a walk in last night and i have a viral throat infection. I forgot to ask if i can work out. I think i will probably just go home. It is not the end of the world to miss boot camp tonight. I can do a make up next week.
In other news, i read this article about how waffles can be so much more than breakfast food. For example....waffle sandwiches...and you can put cool stuff in the waffle batter to make the waffle bread more delicious. This has opens a whole new world and i need to get me a waffle maker.
On the food front...i have also found a great way to use leftovers....i use Pillsbury crescent roll dough and make popovers. This week...i make myself a delicious bbq chicken hot pocket. and they only take like 12 minutes to bake and they are delicious and gooey and makes me happy. And if you think about it you can do it with anything....apple and brie turnovers.....bacon and scrambled egg breakfast pops. I really think this is a brand new world for me.

A moment of Introspection
When is it time to say....you...you have enough nail polish?
NOT when there's a sale. Guess what....there was a sale on Friday !!!! Very exciting.
I got this one:

It's called Polka.com It was screaming my name...."Erin...you love Polka Dots....Erin you need to own me!!" The nail polish was correct. I did need to own him.
And This One:

it is james bond - Live and Let Die. I got it so i can show dad i like James bond too!
Then finally i just got a buff coloured one because everyone always needs a nice light colour. Plus the name really sold me.

My vampire is buff. Although i really think it would of been cooler if it was called "vampire my name is buff"
But i don't have the naming nail polish job. Oh well. i move forward!
In other exciting news, the guy at the store offered me a free nail polish display so i can display my nail polish at home in a nice way. I thought it was taking it a little far...but then i thought...Wait a minute, what if i could get shelves that hang on the wall in a perfect way that i can display my nail polish and it looks all arty. like a wall feature. That would be so cool!! I am accepting ideas if anyone has any!

Exhausted
Some housekeeping news: Alex, here is the link to an article about the grilled cheese bag. The only thing that is different is that it says 11.99 but it only cost me 4 at loblaws.

Okay now for the real news. I think i may have died in boot camp last night, we did a circut.....with treadmill at the highest incline, row machine, rope smash, tire smash with sledgehammer, deadlifts, standing twists, atomic push ups and pull ups. We did that 4 times last night...and by the 4th time i thought i was going to die! I defiantly feel the pain today...i earned my friday. They are having an athletic combine with athletes across toronto. It looks intense but if you enjoy challenging yourself you should get out there and join. I will not be joining because i can barely make it through class....so i am not ready for an athletic combine. I am still considering boxing/kick boxing. I went to check out that place on yonge by davisville but i chickened out and didn't go in. For some reason it scares me to try something new....that's why i want to do it. First step, cancel goodlife. Second step.....screw my fears and go into the class.
In other news....my friend Bex says she knows a real life Nick Miller....but that he lives in Windsor so it won't work out. So that just goes to show you, there are real Nick Millers out there and i just need to find mine. Although i am also in love with Nicholas Holt right now....he is the one who plays the zombie in love in Warm Bodies. Let's hear it for the Nick's!
This weekend it is our boot camp party....i will get a medal for years of service....i think this is my 4th year? Or is it my 3rd.....i can't remember. It all blends together. But i am going to wear my leather top...that means i have gotten 3 full wears out of it. I am so excited because it was an impulse buy that seemed like i wouldn't have the opportunity to wear much. But check me out...three fancy occasions to wear it.
I hope everyone has great weekend plans, i am hanging out with kelly tonight, we are going to watch more retro cartoons, then tomorrow boot camp party saturday night....and right now me and Carolyn are organizing a movie trip for sunday to see 21 and Over.
It is a packed weekend, and i hope everyone else will have a great one too!
