Last night i had boxing, it was my third week if you count the trial class. We worked on double jab straight right punch combinations. We started getting into the hook punch...we haven't worked on the uppercut yet but we are getting there.
It was so hot yesterday, and the boxing is at Marv's gym which is basically an old mechanic's garage that has been fixed up.....so there is no air conditioning and very little air circulation. I already find boxing very sweaty work. but last night....i was so sweaty....sweat was dripping off me in every direction. Very gross.
Then i am thinking maybe i should stop at shoppers for some ice cold water, but i knew if i went in i would get more than just water, so i skipped shoppers and went straight home to drink some chocolate almond milk. But i get home....and the power is out. after climbing up the 84 stairs at my subway station, i then have to climb the 9 flights to get to my apartment. I am so sore today it is crazy.
So power is out...and my phone is at 28% battery. It was an emergency situation. But then i realized that my laptop still had battery, so i charged my phone through my laptop.
The most distressing part was that the only new show is on thursday nights at 10pm - Rookie Blue. I love that show and it only came back last week, i didn't want to miss it. So i prayed that it would come on by 10pm....that was all i wanted.
The power came back at 9:59! MIRACLE

I did it and i love it
So, after a few years of thinking about it, and not being sure if it is important enough to honor logan. I got my logan paw print tattoo last night.
I will always carry him close to my heart and i was worried that the tattoo wouldn't mean enough for me. It needs to be super important, because although i know in my mind that it wasn't my fault and just a horrible acccident. But in my heart, i should have taken better care of him. I will always be sad about that. And that is why this tattoo is so important. Because he was so important.
So, a few weeks ago I met with a tattoo artist, Evie from Hartless Tattoo on Roncey. I gave her my pawprint and asked her what she recommended. She took it and drew a very pretty pawprint based on Logan's pawprint. She got everything right specifically the long nails he would never let me cut (i really wanted that included but wasn't sure how it would work. Then she framed it in a ribbon to make it look more complete. I was actually scheduled to get it last thursday but with me winning boxing classes, i couldn't do both, so i re-scheduled to this week.
I was really nervous and kept having dreams that i got it tattooed and it was unfinished.
But when the time came to get it, she asked me if i wanted the ribbon in colour or black scale. She recommended colour, red specifically. She was actually amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I am of the firm belief that if someone trains has experience in a profession, that you should listen to their expertise. I mean, i will say what i want, but it is up to the artist to use their creativity and expertise to make it look amazing. And she did!

Hump Day
Good old wednesday, half way through the week....it is like making it to the top of the hill in a race...it is all down hill from 5pm today.
I have the worst case of the sneezes today. I don't think i have a cold...but i may have allergies. although i have never had allergies before. I will survive...but i was debating trying some allergy medicine.
So....flash forward a few hours...and hump day is seeming like it is going to be a tough one. I have to power through. Because i have something fun planned for tonight.
I just need to keep an eye on the prize. 3 weeks until vacation. 3. i can totally make it. then i will be having fun with Alex in kingston, and having fun shopping with mom in buffalo. And when i get back to work, summer friday's will be happening!

Why so many fires?
The last two days, the ttc has inconvenienced me with fire investigations. Yesterday, i missed running and BRUNCH!!! and today, i was like 30 minutes late to work due to another fire investigation.
It has left me very grumpy. I need to go see mom and dad, but i didn't want to get off the couch yesterday, so i am going to see them later, although i really need to see them because they have my ttc pass. I will either go see mom at work one day this week or go over to their house friday night.
In other news, i powered through all 15 episodes of Arrested Development on sunday. I was going to try to draw it out and only watch a few a day. But i just kept going, just one more, just one more...and before you know it...i had finished all 15. It was very good, a little more complicated than i think it needed to be but all the classic stuff was there with some fun new stuff. I enjoyed it but i think i am going to have to watch it all a few more times to really appreciate and catch all the jokes.
I also made home made pop tarts this weekend, it was only a first try, i am sure i can do better...but this is exciting and it opens a whole new world for me.

One Day More
Arrested Development new season is released TOMORROW. I am so flipping excited that i cannot wait. So tomorrow, i am going to go to boot camp, go home and wait for Arrested Development to become available on Netflix.
I should make other more exciting and socially interactive plans. But i won't.
I had my first official boxing class last night. i am still a very awkward boxer...but i think with practice i will get over my awkwardness and it will feel more smooth. But now i have gloves and wraps so i can punch and practice at home.
I am so ready for this day to go smoothly and quickly. So it can be the weekend.
I am going to see what these david's tea pops are all about. fizzy tea drinks, sounds delicious. Although i really shouldn't go into david's tea because every time i go in...the closer i get to buying all the stuff i want, but don't actually really need.
In other news....i saw this woman on the subway on tuesday and her outfit was super confusing. She was wearing a nice black blazar and pretty blousey top with a nice necklace. But then her bottoms were cheap looking acidwash jeggings. Not even the really nice jeggings that sort of seem like jeans..but these were more like 10$ inexpensive leggings dressed up to look like jeans...and acid wash jeans at that. It was a very bizarre outfit...i tried not to stare..but i kept trying to figure the outfit out.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
So guess who loved her boxing trial - ME....and if you signed up for a 6 week session you got entered into a draw for what i thought was a free class. And guess who won the draw...ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it is not just for one class, it is the whole six week session, FOR FREE. I have only done one class and i already love boxing. The teacher is awesome, she has been in over 40 amateur fights and hopes to go pro next year. I am still very awkward, i am good at keeping my face protected (rule number one) but i am still quite awkward with the punching and the moving. So i need to work on that. But i assume that comes with practice. It is a hard work out...i was so sweaty that when i took my hands out of the gloves, they were prune-y (from sweat). I am just so excited about this whole boxing thing. I think it is going to be wicked awesome!
In other news, I think i found the solution for my phone/running problem. Check it out:
I should be able to hook this to my water belt for when i run. Isn't that exciting? I am not sure if it will work exactly but i think it is a good option to try.
I may have also got myself this case:

Just because....everyone enjoys a turtle.

Long Weekend, No Water
So....i had a 4 day weekend. And zero firm plans. That is the best kind of weekend i can think of. I enjoyed a friday full of sleeping in, Netflix and knitting. I was going to go out and get food for the weekend but i just kept watching The IT Crowd on netflix.
Saturday i had an early morning with Boot Camp, then me and Tak and Jenn did our usual brunch...but this time we went for a nice walk to get to a brunch place near Yonge and Wellesely, the Brownstone, where we helped Jenn plan the most awesome adventure to Paris. She is going to have the BEST TIME. We think she should get a little pink dog, named Fifi, to take with her to Paris. After brunch, we went to David's Tea on Church, where i found out that the iced tea promotion is coming back but the container i have is no longer valid because they updated the containers. So i had a choice of two, the plain 9.99 one or the leak proof 14.99 one. I, of course, picked the more expensive one. But dude it is seriously leak proof, i shook it a lot and not one drop leaked. So, although i was annoyed i had to buy a new container...the annoyance lasted like 2 minutes. Because yay, new container and i love drink containers...i have 4 on my desk right now, my tea press, my water tumbler (got for free from work), my glass double walled tumbler from david's, and my old dollar iced tea container from david's.
After the David's tea adventure where i checked out all the stuff i want, (to go on my birthday wish list), i went to All Frills and did a quick shopping trip for food to feed myself during the rest of the lazy weekend. After all that adventure, the subway was out on the yonge side and i had to walk to Queens Park subway station. After i got home, i had a small nap then found out that there was a Dr. Who marathon on, so i watched that and knitted.
I was suppose to start my book club book but it is kind of boring so i didn't get into it.
Sunday, i went for a run with Tak, where we invented a new type of run, not business or social, but LONG WEEKEND RUN. Which is where you plan a run, walk a lot and then stop for jumbo freezes at like 2/3rds of the way along. It was a great run. We didn't have to run up that yucky hill, and we got jumbo freezes..which was awesome! We are planning our next long weekend run, slushies will be our treat!
But the water was out in my building on sunday. The stupid water main that busts like twice a year, choose to bust on the sunday of a long weekend. BOOO. So i was out of water all day sunday, it came back at like midnight. But after my run, i high tailed it to mom and dad's where i could shower and enjoy the water that flows freely! We also went to target, where i got a nice pink dress with flowers and pockets. I am thinking i will wear it with a brightly coloured belt and some tights. I also got a new maxi dress, it is tie-dyed blue and purple..it is fun and flowy and has rope straps.
Monday, my goal was to not do anything because it was my last day of the long weekend, so i marathoned Misfits and did my nails like 4 times, i kept trying to do this nail tutorial i saw for ombre nails but the sponge kept soaking up all the nail polish and not stamping it onto the nails at all. Maybe the sponges i bought were too spongey? i don't know...i will have to try again. But i did find out a useful way to remove nail polish in like 1 minute per hand. It is awesome! You Tube calls it the cotton ball trick.

Fitness Apps
So, i wanted to see what new fitness apps were out there to keep me entertained while working out. And i found maybe the perfect running app for me:
Zombies, Run! - i have no idea what it does or if it works but the description says something about running missions to a soundtrack of moaning zombies.
I want something music related so while i am running it keeps me happy...and i found this:
Upbeat workouts for runners, it apparently matches your pace to the beats of a song and will only play music that matches it.
I also like this one: Fooducate - it apparently lets you scan barcodes and grades the food and suggests healthier alternatives. I may not enjoy this app but i need it to tell me better food options.
I really want some sort of music fitness thing but i can't find a good one. I will keep searching. I also don't really have a holder for my phone when i run. i hate the arm band ones because it gives me the worst heat rash from how sweaty it makes my arm. i am going to do my favourite kind of research. SHOPPING RESEARCH.
In other news....i have been named Co Captain of Fun on my team at work and have been put in charge of planning social events for us. I am very excited. My other co-captain is going to make us business cards. We are going to be a great team!

TV Update
So a lot of shows are having their season finale (new girl is tonight, taylor swift is the guest star) which is sad because i don't want my favourite shows to end for the summer. But they are right in the middle of pilot season, so lots of pilots are out their right now, Rebel Wilson has a tv show that has been picked up for next season, Andy Sandberg as well. Even Michael J Fox is coming back to tv....that will be fun. But i am most excited for Joss Whedon's new show The S.H.I.E.L.D.
In other news. I am still working on my sugar intake. I have been doing pretty good. I have almonds at my desk and munch on them whenever i am getting snacky. I have tested my resolve and went down the chocolate and the cookie isle at the grocery store...i am still not ready to go to the bakery section...but i have been holding on. I just tell myself....do you want to get diabetes and lose a foot. I don't think that is entirely accurate but i have been using fear to scare myself off of sugar and it is a pretty effective tool because i don't want to lose a foot...and i don't want to have to inject myself with insulin. I am afraid of needles. So i push forward...with no sugar and lots of almonds.
So i have 5 weeks until my vacation and people....it can't come soon enough. But i am going to use those five weeks for good.
Marv is having a boxing try out....and i signed up. I have been talking about boxing for awhile...i am pretty excited to give it a try....if i like it. i may switch from boot camp to boxing. It is thursday night, i will give you an update on friday.

Sporting Life 10k
Okay, i am sure you all want to know all about the race yesterday. Well, normally i run with mom and dad runs with steph....because steph and dad are fast and mom and me are happy with our pace around 7/km. But with Steph hard at work re-producing, she can't run too fast, so i ran with dad.
We had some complaints from last year, the over crowding and the shuttle buses were horrible (shuttles were fixed this year, crowding still a real problem).
This year, it was crazy cold. i was always planning on running in my jacket with a short sleeved top...but man, i would have loved to have a long sleeved top under my jacket. The wind was brutal. I am glad me and dad went to find him a jacket on Saturday because he would have been frozen without a jacket. The start wasn't bad....although i didn't hear a gun...our corral just started running and we were off. Dad set a brisk pace....i think we started at like 6:30, and held on to that pace for awhile. There was live music at random spots along the race line. I really enjoyed that, it was nice that all sorts of musicians came out to cheer. Dad kept us going at a brisk pace, i felt so bad, i knew i was holding him back, he could have run so much faster but he was stuck with me. We only walked twice and that was for quick stops at the water stations. My ankle started bothering me mid run but i ignored it. We got to the end and you will never believe what happened...........
The runners were so backed up that there was a bottle neck and we had to stop like yards from the finish line and line up to cross the finish. We were stopped before we could cross and then had to wait to cross. can you believe that???? That screws up our time. So i don't know what our real time is but according to the website, my chip time is 1:06. But we need to factor in the end screw up. I can't imagine how mad actual runners are...or maybe there aren't very many actual runners in this race. So many people wore the race shirt...that is such a newbie move!
If this race wasn't our mother's day gift to mom, i would not be running it again. Between the crowds and the lack of swag and that horrible organization at the finish....no one was rushing anyone along (and once we got past the bottle neck, there was lots of space, people didn't need to be stopped at the finish). I couldn't even get any water after the race. the crowd around the water was like 8 people deep all around. I got a banana sure...but i never want food right after a race...i need water and lots of it. and i couldn't get any....there wasn't even any chocolate milk.
I will probably still be running the race...i can't quit because mom loves that we run as a family....but i will be pulling that we switch to the Yonge Street 10k instead.
Afterwards, we got a delicious brunch...then i went home and napped all afternoon! I love napping the afternoon away.
The only problem is my ankle is absolutely killing me right now. it is the ankle that suffered Achilles tendinitis. Well the tendinitis might be back.

Over Active Imagination
I did not sleep well last night, i kept heard weird noises and with my over active imagination, i kept thinking something was wrong. I couldn't figure out what it was...but it took me forever to fall asleep.
Now i am grumpy and tired. I need a vacation badly!!!
I had a great evening last night, me and Amy hung out and had a good visit. Amy has been telling me all about how to train a dog, and that you have to establish yourself as the 'pack leader'. This is the start of my realization, i can't get a dog. I would make a terrible pack leader because i would feel too bad and then would let the dog get his way.
For example, me and Amy were going to go get tea but we took Austin out for a quick pee...and he seemed so excited to be outside....i told her we should change our plans so Austin can come with us. So instead of going for tea, we picked up sandwiches, ate in the park and then went for a huge walk. I just can't help it...a dog looks at me with his big puppy face and all i want to do is hug it and then hang out with him forever. So my dog would be the leader for sure. I mean remy is already the leader in my house....adding a dog - remy and the dog would fight for pack leader dominance and then they would let me know where i stand in the pack.
We are running Sporting Life on sunday morning. We will see how it goes. I would like to do it in like an hour but i am sure it will take at least 1 hour 10 minutes.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Shoe Quandry
So..now that it is getting warmer...and i am sinking into a shame spiral of self hate because i have to buy a new swim suit.
I am currently distracting myself with other thoughts....like hey i only have one pair of birks and i threw all my flats out last summer in a fit of 'these are all too flat and my feet hurt from all the running, i need more support'......i am going to need to fix that. I was thinking of buying an inexpensive pair of tom-a-like's....because although toms help the world...i still think they are an ugly shoe to be paying that much for them.
The other shoe that is providing me quite the quandry....the sneaker wedge. I just don't understand them. They look kind of fun but not always...sometimes they look way too much....and am i really a sneaker wedge kind of girl? or am i more the type that just lives in her converse all stars (which by the way were my best purchase ever - found them in the mens section of winners for like $30).
Now i must warn you.....i have agreed to run the scotia half again this year.....i know...i have given up denying i am a runner...but i will never stop hating running and i will never experience a runners 'high'. But i do want to run it better this time....not give up at like 18km and swearing that i will never run again. This time....i am going to run through to the end....and not threaten to punch anyone.
I have also noticed that my butt has gotten bigger which is making me very angry because i exercise all the time and i am doing much better on my eating...what's up with the increased junk in my trunk? My friend told me that it is all the running....that running makes peoples bums bigger...although she couldn't tell me why? So internet...true or false, does running make your butt bigger? Because if yes...that is another x in the negative column of running.

Launching Today
So the project i have been very involved with is launching today. i have to wear a very bright t-shirt...you know one of those volunteer shirts that never really suits anyone...the high crew neck the giant sleeves. Well, I in particular hate those shirts because i have two options, go smaller and fit everything but the boobs and wear a shirt that looks like it may bust across the bust. Or go big and look like i am a giant bloob. So this time i tried something new, a smaller shirt that i cut and sewed into a v neck instead of a crew neck. I was also going to take it in on the sides...but it is okay in the sides. It really needs a sleeve over hall. I am suppose to wear the shirt often at work this week so people know they can come to me with any questions. The v-neck adjustment worked well and it makes me hate the neck less but the sleeves are making me very angry. So, next on the agenda - take the shirt home tonight, adjust the sleeves to less suck and then wear it again tomorrow.
In other news, it was a great weekend, i got to work which means over time (it was fun and i enjoyed it). Then had a great book club dinner - good food, good discussion and afterwards i got to go to BMV and buy the next book up for our book club discussion (water for elephants).
Sunday was so nice out....i went for a run with mom and didn't even realize it but i got a sunburn on my shoulders.

Braid Update
I went to a beauty supply store yesterday with the purpose of finding the new matte top coat. They had it....my life is now complete. They also had a comb with one of those pointy ends that helps to separate hair. I thought - maybe that will help me braid better. I was going to try something complicated for tomorrow. But i overslept...like normal (why are mornings the worst). So I only had time to do a quick tiny braid on the side of my head that is then pulled into my pony tail. I thought i would start small with the braids. There are a lot of braid-to-do's on pinterest...so i have a lot of ideas...it is just the follow through that is tough.
I thought i was going to have to work tomorrow because we are doing a big data conversion but it looks like i won't have to now. Which makes me a little sad because i was going to get time and a half...and that seems like a good deal.
But instead, i will get my butt kicked in boot camp then enjoy a lovely brunch with Jenn and Tak. Go home, have a nap, then get ready for our first meeting of Book Club.

Summer Shoes
It is finally really nice out. Don't get me wrong, i love the rain, especially giant thunderstorms but running last night in short sleeves and short pants.....wonderful!
So i put on my summer peep toe shoes with slight wedge heel...the pair that i try to wear every year except it cuts up my right heel every time. But this time...i am going to beat it...this time, i will emerge victorious and have a pair of well worn in summer work shoes.
In other news, thanks to Alex, i got my train tickets for my visit to kingston. I am very excited about the visit plus i have someone who can feed remy, plus i got the train tickets SUPER CHEAP. $37 each way.
A-MAZING!!
So many things have happened this week. I made my own nail polish, you mix clear polish with eye shadow. You get a translucent colour, and i love it. I also found this opi top coat that makes everything matte and i need it! Seriously need it.
I may have fallen into pinterest when i was doing tattoo research. Now i get all these things about easy to do hair styles, make up tips, and diy projects. I didn't want to do it...but it is too late, no one can save me. All i want to do is craft and do my hair...of course i have a lots of fails when i try the hair stuff. I just can't master the braid....my fingers are dexterous enough to knit and crochet and make jewelry but they can't handle the french braid...they can barley manage the regular braid. I think it is because it is on my own head....but i will keep trying. I mastered the sock bun...i can master the french braid! I will master the french braid and then the fish tail and all the fancy hair will be mine!
